Excerpt – Come Together

As the elevator ascended, David’s body seemed to grow bigger, his bearing predatory. I was his cornered prey—and he was about to strike. After a charged moment, he nodded at the doors. “Go on.” In my thickening haze of anticipation, I hadn’t even noticed our arrival at the penthouse. “We’re late for a very important date,” he said.

“And what date is that?” I asked as we stepped off.

“You, me and nothing else. Leave everything at the door.” He unlocked the apartment and held it open so I could pass through before him. As I did though, he snatched my elbow. “I said everything.”

Over my shoulder, my gaze met his brown eyes, dark and lusty. He let the door slam to merge his body against my backside, gripping my shoulders roughly in his hands. “I’ve been crazy for you all day,” he rasped in my ear. “And although I love this nude dress, I want it off. Now.” He dragged the zipper down and dropped to his knees. I gasped when his lips touched the base of my spine. His hands skated up my exposed back and slid over my shoulders, releasing the gown so it slumped at my feet. They came around to my front, where he spread his fingers across my stomach. A moan vibrated against the small of my back, sending a shiver up to my shoulders.

He stood and wrapped an arm around my chest, his hardness pressing against my spine. His other hand dropped to pull me open by my inner thigh and touch me through my underwear. I was panting, swaying when he released me suddenly. “Jesus,” he muttered.

“I can’t control myself with you.”

Through oversized windows, the city glow lent the only light to the room as he circled in front of me. I put my hand in his and stepped out of the dress, following as he led me down the stairs into the sunken living room.

“Keep those on,” he instructed, motioning to my new black stilettos. He removed his blazer and lit the fireplace as my body, alive with desire, wavered unsteadily in the four-inch heels. He emptied his pockets onto a side table and removed his Rolex. He undid his bowtie slowly with his hooded eyes fixed on me. His limbs, strong and brawny, moved fluidly as he shed clothing. I wanted to learn the contours of his body with my eyes, my fingers, my tongue. And when he looked at me that way, like it was the first time, I could barely help from melting at his feet.

Lindy Zart SATSF Teasers

This is my first Lindy Zart book and it will definitely not be my last (I’ve already 1-clicked Unlit Star…).

Dreams had to be chased, or they were never caught.

This novel is what I love about reading. Lindy completely sucks you in with her words that touch your soul and open your eyes to the unexpected. The best moments in life are often in those unforeseen moments when you fall, completely, with your entire heart.

This book is about a journey. It’s the journey into love in its most raw form. It’s selfless and honest and just…. beautiful. Words can’t do it justice.

The truth was more likely to be whispered than shouted.

I finished this a few days ago and I still have that ache in my chest. I normally jump right into another book, but this time… I can’t. I need to let myself process. The ending hints at what’s to come and that…. it’s a lot to digest and my heart isn’t ready to acknowledge it yet.

It takes a gift to write a novel like this one. A novel that will stay with you long after you read the last page. A novel that will haunt you for years to come. It embeds itself into your skin and becomes a part of you. You’ll look at the world around you in a different way. Everything will become clearer. When you meet the one who holds the missing piece to your heart… you jump in with both feet and never look back.

People generally needed to see things for themselves in order to believe them.

Steady as the Snow Falls is very different, but it’s one you NEED to read.

The speakers started playing a piano melody. At the first word of the song, Lily walked onto the stage, one foot in front of the other as her hands gracefully moved beside her. I watched her long starlight colored hair flow as she started to sway. Her head cast down. She rolled her body and stuck her long leg in the air behind her then spun in a circle. The material of her dancer’s skirt flowed around her like a pinwheel.

Her head went back down conveying sorrow. I wanted to lift her chin up. She should not be looking down, her beautiful amethyst eyes deserved to be seen. I hadn’t seen her dance since we were teens. I felt enraptured by her.

My eyes were glued as the singer started bellowing out the chorus. Her head whipped back again as she leapt into the air and spun. She landed on one foot, and her hands moved around her like a swan. I felt every bit of the emotions in my soul from the song through her dance. It was as if she herself was giving life to the words with every move of her body. She leapt, spun, and bounced around. She swayed back and forth as if she was being pulled between two forces.

My heart ached for her. The emotions in this dance were ones of devastation and regret. She fell to the ground lying on her back then her chest came up then fell back slowly, as if trying to bring herself back to life. Her hair swirled around her in soft waves. She got back up quickly and twirled to the back on the stage. With the last bit of the song, she ran and jumped into the air, spread her legs into a split into the air and landed. She gave it her all, she threw everything she had into the emotions of this dance. At the end she fell to the ground and crumpled.

I wanted to run to her, scoop her up, and tell her everything. But she could never be mine. I’d given up that dream years ago. I wasn’t even sure why I had stopped by to see her perform. I almost wish I hadn’t. To see her move with that much passion, so much that I could only dream to possess an ounce of it. I spared one last look at her as I stood. The crowd had erupted into cheers and screams in applause for her performance. She was smiling while flowers were placed in her hands as she took a bow to her audience.

Tears glistened on her rosy cheeks. She had such a powerful spirit in everything she did.

Not able to take anymore I turned and left the cheers and the woman I loved behind me. My soul was stained black with death. Someone as bright and pure as my Lily, deserved more. I think I had convinced myself if I saw her again that maybe I would change my mind to pursue her. To finally find peace in my life, but only to see her and feel just as I did when I left a few years ago. Devastated.

I walked out of the auditorium building promising myself that I wouldn’t try to see her anymore. It was just torture on my soul. I had to give her up completely. The hope of having Lily was left back on that stage with her.

I had jobs to do, that would be my only salvation in this hell of a life.

I got on my bike and sped off as far away from my starlight as could.

Dark Erotic Thriller

When the line between fiction and reality bleeds, there is no end to the lies or a truth to be found.

It was never supposed to happen. He was supposed to remain a porn star—the source of my fantasies—in my expansive collection of torture porn. But he found me, and he only wants one thing from me. He calls it the ultimate orgasm; death.

He gives me the illusion of choice—my life or his.

I thought my choice would be the end of my troubles, but it followed me to a town known for its close-minded, small population and hypocritical way of thinking.

My madness lurks in the shadows. It watches me and seduces me with pretty smiles and dirty degradation. It assures me that my fantasies aren’t wrong. It tells me that they will star in all of my nightmares…and I want nothing more.

Content contains strong violence, coarse language, graphic sex, scenes of horror, and situations that most readers would find objectionable. Reader discretion is highly advised.

Holy craziness. This one has a warning and you should take it seriously.

“Our colors are too dark and messy to fit inside the lines…”

When Courtney Lane puts out a ‘dark’ book, she doesn’t do it half way. If she says that are scenes of horror and strong violence… you better believe that you’ll probably cringe a few times while reading. You’ll want to cover your eyes at parts, but keep reading.

“What did I do to tip your radar and make you become so interested in me?”
“You existed.”

The synopsis gives very little away as to the twisted tale in Opaque Mirrors. You think you’re prepared for the crazy train that is Whitney, but once you start reading you’ll realize that you’re just out of your league. She is the opposite of everything sweet and innocent. She craves a rough hand and pain, but not your typical pain. Death is the ultimate goal for people who are into the type of activities that Whitney likes. She thinks she escaped her past, but it somehow has bubbled over to become something she can’t run from anymore.

“You owe me every goddamn piece that makes up everything you are.”

I really tried to figure this one out, but in the end I had no idea. No. Idea. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next, a curve ball is thrown at you. That’s this entire novel…. it’s a lot of ‘wth just happened?!?’. It’s a dark erotic thriller. There’s one part that I just cannot get out of my head (it involves a barbed sleeve). Make sure you read this one until the very end. With all the authors in the dark genre, Courtney Lane proved herself to be a front runner with Opaque Mirrors.

About Courtney Lane

COURTNEY LANE has been creating her own little world since she was very young. When she was eight years old, she began to bring her worlds to life with a pen and paper.

While many of her works touch several different genres, she has an archetype when it comes to the female protagonists in her stories — they have to have certain brand of strength, be deeply flawed, and harbor layered personalities. In her books you will find themes that reflect the darker side of life with a tremendous amount of depth and complexity. She also has an affinity for characters that aren’t necessarily the girl or boy next door, or the people you’d encounter in everyday life. In other words, she prefers to explore characters who aren’t easy to fall in love with.

Currently, Courtney can be found either working on her next book, playing the latest role-playing game on her X-Box (preferably a game by Bioware), or spending time with her family.

♦ He Loves Me Not by Tierney Fowler • Cover Reveal ♦

Title: He Loves Me Not (Lifestyles of the Rich and (In)Famous #2)
Author: Tierney Fowler
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: April 20, 2016
Find on Goodreads

In the game of love, everyone roots for the underdog. You know, that girl-next-door type who wears glasses and has a shy smile and who falls for the most popular boy in school…she’s the hero of every story. And when the shy girl takes off her glasses and the quarterback kisses her and the crowd roars and the movie fades to black, people sit back and are satisfied.

But what about the cheerleader? The one he dumps at the fifty-yard line and the one who runs off the field humiliated and sobbing? What about her feelings? What about her?

He Loves Me Not tells the story of what happens after the cheerleader is denied her fairy tale ending. Maggie’s life was perfect–she had perfect friends, perfect parents, and a perfect boyfriend. But when she’s abruptly dumped in front of the entire county by that perfect boyfriend, her life falls apart. With her clique, her friends, and her social standing obliterated, Maggie is resigned to a lonely, humiliating senior year of high school.

…at least until she meets AJ Abbott, a musician who breaks every rule her mother ever taught her. He has no college degree. He wants to be a rockstar. He wears entirely too much black and leather.

But despite their differences, Maggie is slowly drawn into AJ’s rock and roll lifestyle, and she’ll be forced to choose which is more important–clinging to her nonexistent popularity or learning that maybe there’s more to her than her beauty queen tiaras and cheerleader pom-poms.

Maggie’s favorite part of her school day was lunch, but it wasn’t like she ate during that time. Instead, the best part about lunch was the informal parade. If it wasn’t too humid outside, the round stone tables underneath the oak trees dripping with Spanish moss were the perfect setting to see—and be seen. She loved that slow walk to her table—weaving through the other students—when she could feel everyone’s eyes on her. There was nothing in the entire world like the admiration that came as the result of constantly striving to be the best. After all, Maggie had quite the legacy to live up to.
See, not only had Maggie’s momma held the crown for Miss South Carolina and Miss Dixie Belle at the same time back in 1989, but her momma had also won homecoming queen and prom queen during her senior year. That was four crowns at once, if anyone was counting. And Maggie’s daddy made buckets of money investing in Big Oil in Texas before he met his wife and followed her back to Charleston, South Carolina. Maggie had inherited both her momma’s good looks, Southern charm, and infamous maiden name, and her daddy’s brain, magnetic personality, and money.
Maggie made good on all the gifts her parents had given her. Not only did she top the Honor Roll every semester, but she’d always placed in the top three in a pageant. And she’d made the Varsity cheerleading squad as a sophomore. Now, sometimes people liked to get their panties in a bunch and start screaming about nepotism, but Maggie had been taking gymnastic lessons since she was four and had won every junior beauty pageant she’d ever entered.
Really, it was like her slow walks to the lunch table in front of the entire school were a reward for how hard she worked. It was nice to be appreciated. Though today, the walk was a little more precarious than normal. Her momma had insisted that Maggie start breaking in the new heels she’d bought for homecoming, but they were at least an inch higher than she was used to wearing. Navigating the tree roots that broke through the ground took all of her concentration. Thank goodness for Bobby. Maggie gripped his bicep and snuck a look up at him through her lashes.
Not only did Maggie have the perfect childhood, she also had the world’s most perfect boyfriend. Bobby Bishop and Maggie Marion had met after he’d dunked her in the Club’s outdoor pool one summer when they were five. She declared him to be her boyfriend the next year in first grade. Even a bajillion years later, Maggie loved everything about him. She loved the way his blond hair curled into his green eyes, and how his tan skin contrasted against the royal blue of his football jersey. She loved how his muscles made her feel delicate beside him, and she loved his easy laugh. Bobby was the most talented quarterback their high school had seen in years, and if things went right this football season, he would have his pick of nearly any D1 college in the country.
Bobby must have felt her looking at him because he smiled down at her. “Have I told you how pretty you look today?” He stopped walking, sliding Maggie’s hand off his arm so he could squeeze her around the waist.
Maggie beamed back at him. “You’re just the sweetest. Momma put me on a new diet, and I lost three pounds!” She grinned, pleased he’d noticed. The cheerleaders had gotten new uniforms a few weeks earlier, switching from basic one-piece uniforms to a midriff bearing two-piece. Maggie hadn’t felt super comfortable wearing what was basically a sports bra to school on game days, so she’d asked her momma for a new diet to really flatten her stomach.
“You know you’re perfect just the way you are.” Bobby leaned down for a kiss.
“Get a damn room.” Tommy pushed between them, nearly sending Maggie teetering over before Bobby grabbed her arm. “Oops, sorry, Mags. Nice shoes!” He grinned, and all was forgiven. Tommy was Bobby’s best friend and star running back. Even though Bobby was clearly the cutest boy in the county—no, in the world!—Tommy held his own with his warm brown eyes and dark hair. She’d been friends with him for ages—their daddies frequently did business together.
Maggie and the boys finally arrived at the table, which had already been claimed by the rest of their friends—all fellow cheerleaders and football players. The period passed quickly like it always did—filled with lots of loud laughter and party planning. Every person at the table had earned their spot, and whenever a new, misguided student tried to join in, they were quickly educated on social standings.
They weren’t snobby; they had just always been together. From play dates as children to summers at the club to cotillion classes—Maggie and her friends just fit together. Outsiders didn’t really understand their world. For instance, how would that new girl from Massachusetts ever understand how much thought Maggie put into selecting Frances I as her silverware pattern?
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. “Shit, I gotta run. We’re picking lab partners today.” Bobby stood and slung his bag over his shoulder, then winced. “Sorry, Mags. It slipped out.” He smiled down at Maggie apologetically. She’d never been comfortable around cursing. Her momma had always said that gentlemen should know better than to use foul language around ladies, but sometimes they might need a little reminding.
“Just don’t let it happen again.” Maggie beamed up at him, standing slowly to keep her balance on her new heels.
Bobby automatically put a hand out to steady her and then tucked her hand into Tommy’s elbow. “I do gotta run, though. I don’t want to get stuck with some loser.” He dropped a kiss on her forehead, slapped Tommy on the shoulder, and disappeared into the side entrance of the building.
Maggie sighed, watching him go with a dreamy smile on her face. He was the world’s most perfect boy. The little spark of love spread warmth all the way down to her toes. “Ah, Maggie May,” Tommy half-sang as they walked toward the building. “Bobby’s a lucky guy, huh?”
Maggie lowered her lashes and grinned, but really, she knew she was the lucky one.

The long lost Wakefield twin. Blair’s head minion. The BSC party planner. The original Pink Ranger. Stephanie Tanner’s BFF.

In addition to crafting young adult and new adult novels, Tierney Fowler works as an IT consultant by day and a style blogger by night. She resides in Northern Virginia near four shopping malls, counts leopard as her favorite color, and once shot a reality TV show pilot…that never went anywhere.

Her words haunt me, even at a distance.
Going to college was supposed to be my freedom, a time to focus on myself and, more importantly, to escape the woman who created every evil thing within me.
I’d be able to breathe.
But it didn’t work out that easily. The harder I fought the voices that followed me, the faster I sank.
Until I met him.
He reminded me what happiness felt like. For the first time in forever, I was important again. Someone saw me.
He was all I needed.
But what happens when the anger and disgust pull you under and nothing can keep you from drowning?
And what happens when you can’t let go?
When the door clicked closed, he kneeled on the bed and prowled over me. I watched the movement of his muscles under his navy thermal as he lowered himself to my side. He propped his elbow on my pillow and used his other hand to grab my thigh and pull my leg over his hip. For the longest moment he let his intense eyes rest on mine. They seemed to be digging for answers, searching for words to say. Whether those answers were in him or me, I didn’t know, but I let myself bask in the depth of his eyes. I let myself soak in the warmth and strength of his arms. I focused on his hand moving slowly up and down my thigh as he studied my face and finally felt at peace for the first time all week.
What would I do without this man, this man who loved me. The reminder took root, and I couldn’t stop the smile tugging at my cheeks. Seeing my smile, his eyes shifted from intense to happy and playful. He brought his fingers to my lips, tracing them.
“For a minute, I never thought I would see that smile again.”
My smile vanished as an embarrassed heat spread up my neck. I diverted my eyes, not wanting him to see my tears. But his fingers on my chin lifted my face to his.
“No. Don’t turn away from me.” His eyebrows were scrunched in determination for me to hear what he had to say. “Jo…” I felt his chest expand as he prepared his words carefully. “You get to feel sad. You get to fall apart. You get to rage and be angry and run away and hate the world.” His head dipped toward mine, and he placed a soft kiss to my lips. Pulling back, he continued, his words whispering across my lips. “But you don’t ever get to take yourself out of it. Do you understand me? You are precious and needed. I need you. You can call me crying and rant and rave about how much you hate everything in your life. But you don’t ever get to threaten to take it.” Another soft kiss. “I love you, Jo. No matter the struggles you face. I love you. I need to know you’re in it, even if you aren’t with me.” Another kiss. “Okay?”
I took it all in, letting his words wash over me. Squeezing my eyes shut and fighting back the tears, I jerked my head in a nod, whispering, “Yeah.”
At my soft affirmation, his hand dove into my hair and pulled me toward him for a deep kiss. His lips pushed onto mine, as though he was trying to prove to himself that I was still there. Never before had someone looked at me and actually seen me; no one had ever told me it was okay to feel the way I did. He was the first person to tell me that I was needed in this world.
Acceptance and understanding spread through me, and I ran my hands up under his shirt, along his abs that tightened in response to my searching fingers.
I never imagined I would ever write a book. I wasn’t even really a reader until the age of twenty. But I picked up a romance and that was it for me. I fell in love. And then one day I stepped into this indie world of books and I started writing. Then I wrote enough to keep going. And then I had a book. Sometimes things happen when you least expect it, but it all falls into place. Writing is it for me.
I’m a stay at home mom with a degree in chemistry and biology. I LOVE science. If you get me started talking about biochemistry, it’s all over. I’ll rattle on for days! But I use all that knowledge to take care of my two little girls. Mostly while my husband is away being a soldier.
It’s taken me a long time to get here, but I like it … And I think I might stay a while.
